Visionary conservative leader and former congressman J.C. Watts is the Keynote Speaker for the 30th Annual SAF Congressional Action Days, March 8-9, 2010, in Washington, D.C. Speaking at the event's KickOff Breakfast, Watts will draw from his experiences on Capitol Hill and as a community leader to explore everyday leadership practices and tactical steps anyone can use to achieve their goals and dreams.
Watts also will examine some of the hot-button issues in play as the country heads into the 2010 midterm elections - including health care reform, education, the economy, domestic policy, national defense, and specific areas of concern to the floral industry.
"This is going to be a very thought-provoking session. We expect it will spark a lot of conversation as we prepare to head up to Capitol Hill the following day." said SAF Government Relations Chairman Kevin Priest, AAF, of Cleveland Plant and Flower Company in Parma, Ohio.
Admired for his integrity and strong leadership, Watts brings the perspective of a private citizen and a four-term congressman to his presentations. Soon after winning a seat in Congress from his native Oklahoma in 1994, his fellow congressmen recognized Watts' leadership qualities and elected him to serve as the chairman of the House Republican Conference, the fourth-highest position in the House. He was honorary co-chairman of the 2000 Republican National Convention and remains a passionate voice for boosting national security, adhering to fiscal discipline and investing in education. The author of "What Color Is Conservative? My Life and My Politics," Watts is also an ordained minister and a former quarterback who led the University of Oklahoma to two Orange Bowl victories.
Other program details and online registration for Congressional Action Days will be available soon. Meanwhile, mark your calendar and plan to make your voice heard March 8-9 in Washington.
