Sen. Blanch Lincoln (D-Ark.) has been tapped to be the next chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. Lincoln is a friend of the floral industry: She recently supported the 2008 version of the Farm Bill and other agriculture-friendly bills.

Lincoln replaced Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) to become the first Arkansan and woman to become chairman of the committee.

SAFPAC, SAF's Political Action Committee, made a contribution to Lincoln in March, and SAF staff will continue to communicate with her staff to ensure that floral industry issues are preserved during her tenure as chairman.
