The Senate has made their first step towards bringing health care legislation to the floor. On Saturday, Nov. 21 the Senate passed a motion by a vote of 60-39 to begin debate on the Health Care bill. Debate will begin when the Senate returns from the Thanksgiving Day recess period on Monday, Nov. 30.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-N.V.) has hinted at the possibility that debate will last three weeks with a vote on final passage occuring before the New Year.

SAF asks that their members to be prepared to contact their Senators when key issues to floral industry members are being debated in the upcoming weeks.
