Floral Industry Legislative Issues - Health Care Reform
The debate over health care reform will soon be front and center position as key leaders in both parties reveal their thinking and their plans over the next several weeks.  A lot of eyes will be on the Senate Finance Committee as it marks up a bill this month.

The issue is extremely complex, but three elements of the reform debate continue to bubble to the surface:
  • Whether or not the government will offer a "public option" for health insurance to compete with the private sector.
  • Whether there will be mandates for individuals to have health insurance, or for employees to offer health insurance, or both.
  • Whether or not to tax the value of health care benefits received through employers.
