Immigration Reform
SAF urges enactment of AgJOBS, as part of a broader step forward on comprehensive immigration reform or as a narrower incremental step forward, on its own. Agriculture needs and wants access to a stable, legal labor supply. Border enforcement and interior enforcement are continuing, leaving agriculture without a legal workforce – even in this recessionary economy. AgJOBS is a bipartisan, worker and business – supported solution that can be enacted either as a part of comprehensive reform or as a standalone package.

SAF supports the 3 components of AgJOBS
  • A workable H-2A guest worker program
  • A way to allow the most experienced but authorized farm workers already in the U.S. to earn the right to transition to legal status, subject to strict and extensive conditions including future work requirements and standards for good behavior
  • Provisions to secure the border and improve our security
