Stephanie Vance, the Advocacy Guru, and Congressional Action Days (CAD) presenter shared some of her advocacy tips during a teleconference that SAF participated in yesterday. Vance stressed the fact that in order for grassroots programs to succeed, industry members must make their opinions heard at home as well as during their congressional fly-in days in Washington, D.C. such as CAD. She highlighted the upcoming August recess as a key time for advocacy organizations and their members to reach out to key targets in congress.

We encourage you to host an event, or schedule a district meeting with your lawmaker and/or one of their staff members to begin building a relationship on the local level. Your lawmakers need to hear first hand from small business owners in their community. The next CAD is still 9 months away! Don't wait that long to keep the conversation up with your local representative! Schedule a meeting at their office or host them at your business, and ensure that floral industry concerns are still on their radar screen.
